A table for new mothers

A Charleston studio reframes who the game is for.

Holy Mahj, a Charleston studio run by two instructors named Anne and Caroline, is offering a class called Mahjong for Moms: Postpartum Support, listed at 125 dollars, alongside a beginners series, per the studio's events page.

It is a quiet correction to the idea that mahjong is a grandmother's pastime. Here it is a soft place to land for a new mother who needs a few hours at a table with other adults.

OOTT is not affiliated with Holy Mahj. We note it because the people the game now welcomes are not who the cliche says they are.
