A buyer's guide maps the under-$200 mahjong sets
A comparison site tallies the genuinely budget American mahjong sets, and finds the honest floor sits around $150.
Mahjong Compare, a site that catalogs sets and gear, has published a budget buyer's guide arguing that a complete, well-made American mahjong set need not cost a fortune. Per the guide, the genuinely affordable complete sets cluster in a band between roughly $150 and $200.
The guide names the Metro Mah Jongg Canvas Bag Set at $150 as the honest floor, with the Yellow Mountain Imports Mojave listed at $176 and Linda Li's Brown Quilted set at $170 sitting just above it, according to Mahjong Compare. It notes that many modern, design-forward sets run well past that band, so a newcomer hunting a first set may want to know where the budget lane actually begins.
