In Doylestown, a parks department opens fall mah jongg registration Monday
Doylestown Township Parks and Recreation lists an American Mah Jongg instructional course with the National Mah Jongg League card included, and sign ups open August 3 at 8:30 in the morning.
The program listing on Doylestown Township Parks and Recreation's registration site shows an American Mah Jongg Instructional running Thursdays from September 3 to November 5, with no class on October 8. Two sittings are offered, a morning session at 10:00 and an evening session at 5:30, both at the township's Community Recreation Center.
Per the listing, the instructor explains the basics of the game and provides the fundamental skills needed to play, and participants receive an official National Mah Jongg League card listing the current hands and rules. Fees are posted at $105 for township residents and $115 for non residents.
Registration opens Monday, August 3 at 8:30 a.m. The page tells readers the course fills quickly and recommends signing up as soon as registration opens.
Prim's opinion: a township parks catalog is not where most people think to look for a mahjong class, which is precisely why it is worth saying out loud. Before anyone concludes there is nowhere nearby to learn, the recreation department is worth a search.
