A North Texas mahjong tournament sells out for charity, again
The 15th annual Lois Goldblatt and Barbara Wilpon Mah Jongg Tournament returns this September near Dallas, with proceeds going to a children's foundation, according to the foundation's event page.
The 15th Annual Lois Goldblatt and Barbara Wilpon Mah Jongg Tournament is set for Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the Davidson Gundy Alumni Center at the University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson, according to the Ryan Goldblatt Foundation's event page. Entry is listed at $75, which the page says includes snacks and prizes, with a registration deadline of September 18.
The page states the tournament has raised over $300,000 for the foundation across its run. Per the same page, the foundation funds partnerships with Dallas Children's Theater for hospitalized children, Halloween goody bags for kids undergoing chemotherapy at Children's Health facilities, and Camp Sol, a grief support program for families who have lost a child.
As of this writing the event is marked sold out on the foundation's page, which invites interested players to join a waitlist by phone. It is one more entry in a summer where American mahjong tables keep doubling as fundraisers, from Alzheimer's benefits to food-bank marathons.
